Confused mum to be

Ok, so I am expecting soon and trying to wrap my head around things. I keep reading breastfeeding mamas say that their milk started to come out second or third day after birth. What does that mean? What do you feed the baby before that time? Formula? Or whatever drops coming out? Sorry if this is stupid 🤦🏻‍♀️
